God's Secret Plan

Ephesians 3:1-13

The secret God kept — and why He needs YOU to tell it

Paul says God kept a wonderful secret for ages — a 'mystery' that is now finally revealed! The mystery is this: God's family was never meant for just one nation. People from EVERY country, every language, every skin colour — all equal heirs together in God's family through Jesus Christ.

And look at who God chose to tell this secret: Paul, who used to be the greatest enemy of the church! Paul calls himself 'the least of all God's people' — yet God gave him the biggest mission: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, kept hidden in God for ages.

God's purpose in this is breathtaking: through the church, the MANIFOLD WISDOM of God would be made known — even to rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms! Paul says he doesn't want the Ephesians to be discouraged because of his sufferings in prison — his sufferings are actually their glory, proof the secret really is spreading.

God still uses ordinary, once-unlikely people to tell the secret. The question is not whether to tell it — the question is how.

✨ Memory verse

“His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.”Ephesians 3:10 (NIV)

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent & teacher guide

Big idea: the mystery of Ephesians 3 and the doctrine of personal evangelism — every nation, every background, equally welcomed into God's family, with God still choosing once-unlikely people (like Paul, like us) to carry that secret further. The phrase "manifold wisdom of God... made known" through the church (3:10) gives the church a cosmic significance: even spiritual authorities watch and learn from what God does among ordinary believers.

Conversation starters: (1) Why do you think God chose Paul — once the church's biggest enemy — to carry this secret? (2) What does it mean that no nation or background is excluded from God's family? (3) How can YOU be part of telling this secret today?

Pray together for boldness to share the gospel, the way Paul did even from prison.
