Wake Up and Sing
Filled to overflowing — and baptised in the Holy Ghost
Paul sounds like a parent on a school morning: WAKE UP, sleeper! The days are evil — make every single one count.
Then he asks the most important question: what fills you? Some people fill themselves with things that make them lose control. Paul says instead: be filled with the Spirit — filled to the brim and overflowing with GOD!
But here
Scripture teaches something precious: there is a difference between having the Holy Spirit and being BAPTISED in the Holy Ghost. When you are born again, the Spirit comes IN to you. When you are entire sanctified, the Spirit PURIFIES you. But there is a THIRD experience — the Baptism in the Holy Ghost — where God's Spirit comes UPON you with power from on High! The disciples at Pentecost had walked with Jesus for years — they were saved — but Jesus told them to WAIT until they received power. That power is for witnessing, for prayer, for living the Christian life at full flame. The signs of being Spirit-filled? You overflow in singing, psalms, hymns, spiritual songs from the heart — and you give thanks ALWAYS, for EVERYTHING. A truly Spirit-filled life is the most joyful life on earth.

Holy Ghost Baptism — The scriptural doctrine of Holy Ghost baptism and its Pentecostal distinctive. The official
Scripture statement: 'The Baptism in the Holy Ghost is the enduement of power from on High upon the SANCTIFIED believer' (Acts 1:5,8; 2:1-4; 11:15-17).
Three crucial points for parents: (1) SEQUENCE MATTERS — Holy Ghost baptism comes UPON the sanctified believer. In the scriptural order: New Birth → Entire Sanctification → Holy Ghost Baptism. A person seeking the baptism in the Spirit must first ensure their heart is clean through entire sanctification. (2) PURPOSE — this is not primarily about tongues as a private prayer language; it is 'enduement of POWER' for witnessing, spiritual warfare and Christian service. (3) AVAILABLE TO ALL — this is not for special people; it is for every consecrated believer who seeks it.
Conversation starters: (1) Can you explain in your own words the difference between the Spirit coming IN at salvation, the Spirit CLEANSING at sanctification, and the Spirit coming UPON at Holy Ghost baptism? (2) The disciples had been with Jesus for three years — yet they still needed the Holy Ghost baptism. What does that tell us about human effort versus supernatural power? (3) Have YOU received the Holy Ghost baptism? If not, seek it — the promise is to you and your children (Acts 2:39).
Pray together for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit.
