Greater Than Moses
A faithful servant, and the Son who built the house
The writer now compares Jesus to the most honoured leader in Israel's history: Moses. Moses was faithful — everyone agrees on that, he served God's people with complete devotion.
But the writer makes a careful, important distinction: Moses was a faithful SERVANT in God's house, while Jesus is the SON who actually BUILT the house! Think about the difference between someone who works faithfully inside a building, and the architect and builder who designed and constructed the whole building in the first place.
Both deserve honour, but they are not equal in glory. Jesus deserves even greater honour than Moses, just as the builder of a house deserves more honour than the house itself. And here is the call that follows: we are God's house too, if we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope of which we boast, right to the end.
