A Rest Still Waiting
Make every effort to enter it
There is still a REST promised to God's people today — not just a physical land, but a deep rest of trusting God completely. The writer warns: let us be careful that none of us fails to reach that rest through unbelief, the way the wilderness generation did. Let us make every effort to enter it!
And here's a sobering truth: God's Word is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow — able to judge the thoughts and intentions of every heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight; everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
This rest isn't laziness — it's the deep confidence of trusting God so completely that striving and worry can finally stop.

Big idea: the "rest" theme points beyond Canaan to present trust requiring active pursuit (4:11) — paradoxically, entering true rest takes real effort, the opposite of careless presumption.
Conversation starters: (1) What does "resting" in God look like while still making effort? (2) Why is striving toward rest not a contradiction? (3) How does it feel to know God's Word can see into your thoughts?
Pray for hearts that truly rest in God's trustworthiness.
