Once For All!
A sacrifice that never needs repeating
The old sacrifices, the writer explains, could never make people perfect — that's WHY they had to be offered again and again, year after year. If they had truly worked, wouldn't they have stopped?
But Jesus came and said, 'Here I am, I have come to do your will,' offering His own body ONCE — and by that single offering, He made perfect FOREVER those who are being made holy. Day after day, the old priests stood and performed their repeated duties, but Christ offered ONE sacrifice for sins forever, and then sat down at the right hand of God — His work finished, completely.
Where sins have truly been forgiven, there is no longer any need for another sacrifice. It is finished.

Big idea: the absolute sufficiency of Christ's once-for-all sacrifice. "Made perfect forever those who are being sanctified" (10:14) holds together both the finished work of justification AND the ongoing, present-tense work of sanctifying grace without contradiction.
