The Final Blessing
Equipped for everything good
And so the letter closes with one of the most beautiful blessings in the entire Bible. 'Now to him who through the eternal covenant is able to equip you with everything good for doing his will, working in you that which is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.' The writer adds a final, personal word: he has written only briefly, and urges them to bear with his message of encouragement.
He mentions Timothy has been released, and hopes to visit soon together with him. Greetings are sent to all the leaders and God's people. And the very last words of this remarkable letter, after thirteen chapters of the supremacy of Christ, sobering warnings, faith heroes, and practical love: 'Grace be with you all.' A letter that opened with God speaking through His Son closes with grace resting on every reader.
