A Day Full of Miracles
Authority no one had ever seen
Jesus went into the synagogue at Capernaum and began to teach — and the people were amazed, because He taught with AUTHORITY, not like the teachers of the law. Suddenly, a man with an impure spirit cried out, and Jesus commanded: 'Be quiet! Come out of him!' The spirit shook the man violently and came out with a shriek.
The people were astonished — news about Jesus spread quickly through the whole region of Galilee!
Then Jesus went to Simon's house, where Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever. Jesus took her by the hand and helped her up — the fever left her immediately, and she got up and began to serve them! That evening, after sunset, the whole town gathered at the door, bringing the sick and demon-possessed.
Jesus healed many who had various diseases and drove out many demons. One ordinary day in Capernaum, and the whole town had seen, up close, exactly who Jesus was.
