Grace Be With Your Spirit
A short, warm goodbye
Paul closes this joyful, personal letter with brief, warm greetings. He asks the Philippians to greet every one of God's holy people in Christ Jesus — and the brothers with him send their greetings too.
Then comes a small but touching detail: 'All God's people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar's household.' Imagine that — even within the emperor's own household, in the very heart of the Roman government, there were believers who knew and loved this little church far away in Philippi!
The gospel had reached into the most unexpected, powerful places, carried by ordinary believers serving even in Caesar's own house.
And then Paul's final words, simple and complete: 'The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.' A letter that began overflowing with joy and partnership, that walked through chains, humility, pressing on, and contentment, ends exactly where every letter should end: with grace, freely given, resting on every reader.
