Wisdom is more precious than rubies — nothing you desire can compare with her! Long life is in her right hand, riches and honour in her left. Her ways are pleasant, and all her paths lead to peace.
Wisdom is described as a tree of life to those who hold her close — those who hold her fast will be blessed. This is a powerful image, harking back to the very tree of life in the garden of Eden.
Then the chapter zooms out to something enormous: by wisdom the Lord laid the earth's foundations; by understanding He set the heavens in place; by His knowledge the deep waters were divided.
This means wisdom isn't just a personal nice-to-have — it's woven into the structure of creation itself. The same wisdom that built the universe is offered freely to anyone who seeks it.
