'For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.' Proverbs treats seeking counsel from others, not just relying on your own judgment, as essential — even for something as significant as an entire nation.
'Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.' This proverb appears more than once in different forms throughout the book, which itself is a signal of how important this theme is — good plans need more than one mind working on them.
'Listen to advice and accept instruction, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.' Notice the order — listening to advice comes FIRST, and being counted wise is the result that follows, not the other way around.
'Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers.' Even in something as high-stakes as conflict or competition, Proverbs insists that one mind alone, however confident, isn't enough.

Big idea: Proverbs repeatedly and deliberately undercuts the idea that wisdom means having all the answers yourself — genuine wisdom actively seeks counsel from others, recognizing the real limits of any single perspective, however confident or capable. This is a needed corrective for children (and adults) inclined toward self-reliant pride, connecting directly back to the earlier theme of humility versus pride.
Conversation starters: (1) Why might even a confident, capable person still need other people's advice? (2) Can you think of a time someone else's counsel helped you make a better decision than you would have alone? (3) Who are the "many advisers" in your own life you could go to for guidance?
